Kate Olds is now heading up the Kids Club and Animation team.

Kate on the left is from Barnstaple in Devon and has been in Tenerife for a almost a couple of months. She has extensive experience in looking after children and is thoroughly enjoing her new role at Club Olympus. She is ably supported by Gabby Rhodes who has been part of the team since leaving school earlier this year. Gabby has assisted the Kids Club during the last couple of summers and is well known by everybody.

Keep-fit enthusiast Kate said “it’s a delight to be involved at Club Olympus and it’s pleasure to welcome Club Olympus owners and guests down to the resort, oh and don’t think you are going to wriggle out of the Aqua-Aerobics!!”

It doesn’t look much but on this little strip are a couple of restaurants that are of outstanding value. They are typical Canarian restaurants so tend to be short on looks but great on food.

These are the restaurants that all the locals use in the area. They may not be the most salubrious but their food quality is outstanding and the prices are phenomenal. Ranging from 5 Euros to 12 Euros for excellent main courses including sirloin and fillet steaks. Firstly we will feature The Maraju.

 Again, not much to look at on the outside but the interior is pleasant enough. You will be shoulder to shoulder with taxi drivers, lawyers, builders, police officers and a wide variety of local workers.

The “Menu del dia” runs out at between 6.50 Euros and 8.50 Euros for a 3 course meal. As a little hint the “Veal Escalope” with fried eggs is 5.50 Euros and is superb. I keep forgetting to take a shot of the food before I get halfway through it! - Ivan

I called in today with Hildegard my German friend. Hildegard is 85 years old and has no family so I keep an eye on her and she enjoys lunch here.

It’s a great deal, Hildegard gets lunch and I get a German lesson!

However, you will find Maraju a five minute walk away from Club Olympus in Garden City. Simply go left on the main road in front of the resort, walk past the Bus Station, across the next junction and you are there. We will next feature the restaurant “El Gomero” which does a fabulous leg of lamb but all of the restaurants on this little strip are fantastic value and worth visiting.

Bon Provecho - Ivan

The new Gran Sur Shopping Centre is only a few minutes away from Club Olympus in Garden City. It boasts a 7 unit cinema, shops, bars and restaurants and of course Don Kebab!

This new shopping mall is quite an attraction for Club Olympus owners and residents alike. There are some other terrific restaurants which I will review shortly but in the meantime the kebabs are great! At Don kebab the owners and staff are from Bulgaria, the traditional home of Turkish kebabs??!

The Gran Sur centre is well worth a visit. There are some really lovely shops apparently, just ask Jane! Seriously though, our owners do report that this modern shopping mall is superb.

All tastes are catered for and the cinema shows English films throughout the week.

Anyway, enough shopping, good grief what’s wrong with me, back to Don Kebab where the food is brill and the beer is ice cold! This is the view (below) from the terrace taken at lunchtime today! (Thursday)

When you are in Tenerife next and visiting Club Olympus, if you really need a kebab (and sometimes you do) remember Don Kebab. You will love it.

Brian with Jane Rhodes of Club Olympus.

Brian’s objectives remain the same, to look after the interests of Club Olympus owners and to thoroughly enjoy his holidays down at the resort in Tenerife. Brian and wife Josie (shown below with Gabi Rhodes of the Kids Club Team) have been coming to Club Olympus for 22 years.

Brian and Josie are originally from Dewsbury in West Yorkshire. Brian has a background as a Technical Engineer specialising in the oil and gas industry and has worked all over the world. Josie has a nursing background and now specialises in looking after Brian!!

Its a pleasure to have them with us for the next couple of weeks.

Pele was launching a new cruise programme but took time out for a brief chat and for photographs. He is still Brazil’s highest scorer for the national side and the only footballer to be part of 3 World Cup winning teams.

We had a lovely chat and it was a pleasure to meet this real gentleman.

Here is Jodie Rhodes with Pele. Jodie said “You never put me on the blog Ivan but because it’s football I might stand a chance of getting on there! Anyway please say Hi to all the owners for me” - Consider it done. (Then she said “Who’s Pele anyway?”)

This Theme Park is without a doubt on a par with anything that you will find in Florida, California, Cancun or wherever. The water rides are superb, particularly “The Dragon”, “The Volcano” and the Wave pool. There is a glorious white sandy beach and when you are relaxing there you could honestly be in the Caribbean (without the hurricanes, daily downpours, humidity or insects!). The entrance fee is 28 Euros for adults and it is worth every penny. Once inside, the prices for food and drinks are very reasonable and the quality is very high. The entrance is literally a 3 or 4 minute walk from Club Olympus in Garden City.

“We have found that all the staff at Club Olympus are so helpful and friendly so why go any where else when we can be well looked after here? It’s twenty minutes by road from the airport, perhaps a bit longer in Via Express coach but that’s to be expected. Still it’s nice to be driven to our destination where life seems to be very warm and friendly. The view from our Time Share apartment is so lovely when you catch the sun going down. Just sitting there looking out to sea is something gives you that lovely warm feeling before you go out at night.

Our timeshare is our little piece of Tenerife where we live for the two weeks that we are here. The thing about our timeshare is that it’s so pleasant. You don’t think you have wasted money on somewhere you don’t like and it is money well spent. Lying around the pool and having a drink in the bar is so refreshing. To be able to go and make a ‘cuppa’ and look out to sea and have a salad butty is so nice and peaceful. To have a spare bedroom, where you can spread your holiday clothes out in extra wardrobes that you don’t get on a “bucket and spade” holiday. It gives you more room to play with without being cluttered up in one room .The apartment is so spacious and nicely set out for easy living and cleaning .

We love our Time Share for all the right reasons as it’s our home and it is a friendly home were we can sit and watch the world go by and just think where we are going tonight for a lovely meal and drink in a nice bar and walk. This is our Time Share.”
