Andrea and Louise handle customer services, sales follow-up, the Olympus Travel Club, flights, insurance, car hire and general liason between the UK and the resort in Tenerife.

After acquiring the Leeming Wells Hotel some years ago we converted one floor into office space and the rest continues as a delightful boutique hotel. The hotel facilities include a heated indoor pool, sauna and exercise area, bar and conference area. Directly next door is the famous Dog and Gun Pub and Restaurant.

Mick and Kath Roper are the landlords of the Dog and Gun and also manage the Hotel side of Leeming Wells for us. This relationship dovetails nicely as guests at the hotel generally use the dining facilities of the Dog and Gun and Mick and Kath are permanently on site.

Pictured above is the main bar area of the Dog and Gun.

The area is called Leeming Wells because the whole area is full of water wells, we even have one in our car park. When having lunch or dinner at the Dog and Gun you can literally sit over a well!

Leeming Wells is situated in beautiful countryside but the Cities of Leeds and Bradford are within easy striking distance as are the towns of Bingley and Keighley. This makes it an ideal base for our business but is also brilliant for guests at the hotel.

Oxenhope is the next door village to Haworth, the home of the Bronte sisters who were responsible for such literary greats as Wuthering Heights (Emily), Jane Eyre (Charlotte) and Agnes Gray (Anne). Haworth is a fabulous place to explore and is rich in history. Also nearby is the Worth Valley Steam Railway with a station in Oxenhope.

The surrounding wild countryside and moorland is heaven for walkers and for those who really appreciate wildlife.

Leeming Wells is a wonderful base for our UK operations and as the link between our owners and guests who come out to Tenerife.

Many Club Olympus owners come and stay at our very pleasant little hotel for a holiday or short break.

The current rates are £70 for a double room per night, including breakfast or £50 for a single room per night, including breakfast.

I was back in the UK on a business trip this week and was delighted to get back to Tenerife on Friday night. In the entire time I was in the UK it did not stop raining, it was freezing and flood alerts were out across the country, I think I am getting soft! Below are a couple of photos I took from our Headquarters at Leeming Wells, Oxenhope, West Yorkshire. The views from our Hotel and Head Office really are spectacular despite the recent inclement weather.

These shots were taken on Friday (18th Jan) at 10 am.

I took the shot below on Saturday morning (the next day) at our Club Olympus Welcome party, 11 am, by way of contrast!

The difference that 4 hours on an aeroplane makes is quite unbelievable! However it was great to see everybody at our offices in the UK. I took the opportunity to visit a number of our suppliers and business partners whilst I was there.

In the UK we use Addams Office Supplies (AOS Ltd), based in Keighley, for all our stationary and office needs. They provide a great service and are also a very friendly family business. Below are a couple of shots of the team at AOS.

Club Olympus UK headquarters at The Leeming Wells Hotel, hosted a sportsmens dinner last weekend. The event was organised by Mick and Kath Roper of the “Dog and Gun” pub next door. The dinner was held to raise money for Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, West Yorkshire. Almost £2,000 was raised for the charity and a brilliant evening was had by all.

Guest speakers were Norman Hunter of Leeds United fame and Johnny Stiles, son of England World Cup Winner ‘Nobby’ Stiles (Full name Norbert Peter Stiles!)

Norman “Bite yer Legs” Hunter was born in October 1943. He was one of the more uncompromising members of the world renowned Leeds team of the 60’s and 70’s.

Norman joined Leeds United at age 15 and had 14 eventful years with the club. His partnership in defence with Jack Charlton lasted a decade. Norman was actually a very skillful player and was noted for having a ‘cultured’ left foot.

Norman gave a terrific speech at Leeming Wells that was filled with memories, great stories and terrific humour.

John Stiles, as mentioned, is son of England legend Nobby. John was born in 1964 and was a professional footballer himself. His uncle Johnny Giles gave him his first footballing chance for Shamrock Rovers but John went on to have 5 years with Leeds United. He then played at Doncaster Rovers and moved into football and entertainment management. He now is a very succesful comedian as was proved by a brilliant performance at Leeming Wells last weekend.

Hedley Rhodes, Chairman of Club Olympus, met with Leeds United Chairman Ken Bates this week to discuss the situation regarding the Leeds United Supporters Club in Tenerife.

Hedley and Ken discussed the situation at the Leeds United annual dinner. For many years the Club Olympus Poolside Bar has been the official Leeds United Supporters Club Branch in Tenerife. Under the new Bates regime things have changed and a new format of supporters club is now in place. Discussions are under way to make sure that Leeds United supporters in Tenerife are looked after properly. Mr Bates was very supportive and swung things into place immediately to ensure that Leeds United fans in Tenerife and holiday makers who are visiting the resort have the best access to Fan’s resources. This includes having LUFC TV in place as soon as is technically possible. This live feed via the internet will show Leeds games as they happen.
