I managed to sneak off and have a bit of a walk the other day with walking pal Terry. We headed for the tiny mountain village of ‘Vera De Erques’ which is about a 20 minute drive from Garden City in Playa De Las Americas. To the rear of the village is a spectacular mountain gorge (or ‘Barranco’ in Spanish) called the Barranco Erques. At one one time there must have been a considerable amount of water rushing through the gorge but the water is now running through pipes!

There is a clearly defined footpath that takes you down one side of the Barranco, along the bottom for a way and then up the other side. The views throughout the whole of the 3 hour walk are spectacular as we are at about 3,000 feet.

The path can get a bit loose underfoot so care is needed. Terry always uses ‘Ski-Poles’ to walk with and they do make a massive difference to your stability.

At one time this must have been a spectacular waterfall but now there is just a little puddle at the bottom. When there is a heavy downpour (pretty rare for Tenerife) then we might get an idea of what it was like.
Tenerife is often just associated with the “sun, sea and sand” image but literally minutes away from Playa De Las Americas we have very dramatic scenery, beautifully peaceful countryside and varied wildlife. If you want to know more about walking in Tenerife then speak with me personally or any of our staff down at the resort.
All the best - Ivan
We feel that we need to repeat our earlier warnings as an increasing number of owners at Club Olympus are reporting that they are receiving calls from “Resale” companies offering to buy their timeshare weeks.
Some of these companies are saying that they have a waiting list of buyers for Club Olympus weeks or indeed that large companies are buying weeks at the resort. In all instances owners are asked to send a registration fee or a finders fee or any other way of asking for money upfront.
Please be extremely careful and we suggest that you do not send anyone any money. Some owners have sent upfront fees and have heard little or nothing since.
We do not give out any of your details to unauthorised sources and we protect our data vigorously.
If somebody calls you offering to buy your timeshare or offering a deal that sounds too good to be true and asks for any money upfront, we suggest that you avoid any further contact with them. Please do not send anybody any money.
If you need further assistance or clarification please call our UK Head Office on 01535 640050 and ask for Andrea or Louise.
Danielle (daughter of Marco and Denise in the Poolside Bar) has insisted that she appear on the blog to say hello to all our owners and guests at Club Olympus and to let you know what is happening at the Poolside Bar.

The Poolside Bar has geared up for the spring and summer with the re-introduction of nightly cabaret and weekly barbecues.
Danielle, part of the Poolside Bar team, says “we are aiming to have our best season yet and have made a number of changes to accomodate the needs of our guests, so come and give us a try”.

Cabaret artistes include the ever popular Elaine Alexander, an Elvis show with “Memphis Man”, a Robbie Williams tribute with Alexander, Heather Reschini’s Jazz night and the return of the one and only Maxine Jacks.
The host will be our Compere Davy O’Neill (one half of the world famous O’Neill twins!) as seen below with In-House Manager Suzanne.

Suzanne said “please let everybody know that I have dresses other than this one! Everytime you take a shot for the blog I’ve got this dress on!”
These shots were taken at lunchtime today (Friday 14th March) and show the fabulous weather that Tenerife is enjoying this winter and spring. Below is how the resort looked at lunchtime today.

While much of the UK is being battered by hurricanes can we just make you all seethe by showing you what the weather is like here in tenerife!

Enjoying the super spring sunshine are winter residents of Garden City, Keith and Joan Winstanley. They were just saying what a terrific winter and spring it has been down in the islands.
If you need some sunshine, call reservations on 0034 922 795606 and speak to Sue or Cassie.
It was a pleasure to welcome “Fay” and “Sam” Alexandre back to Club Olympus this winter. They are points owners from Brussells in Belgium who have who have visited us many times over the years.

Pictured above, with Sue Simons of our Reservations team, 84 years old Sam is a survivor of the infamous Concentration Camps Auschwitz and Dachau.
Despite suffering those terrible experiences in his early life, Sam is a delight of a person to be with. Both Sam and wife Fay are energetic, positive and full of energy. They live their life to the full, and thoroughly enjoy their holidays. They have a wonderful family and are very well travelled.
It has been a pleasure to enjoy their company at Club Olympus over the last few weeks and Sam certainly has some stories to tell.
Restaurante La Vieja at La Caleta is an up and coming fish and seafood restaurant. It is quite a new venue but is building a very solid reputation.

It is not the cheapest of places but the food quality is terrific. The star attraction for many is the salmon lasagne. “You can’t have a salmon lasagne” I hear you say, but yes you can and it really is terrific, just ask my daughter-in-law Janette pictured below.

La Vieja is smack on the seafront at La Caleta (10 minutes in a taxi) with fabulous sea views, it has a constant supply of the freshest local seafood and a very comprehensive wine list. If you fancy a bit of a treat then give it a go.

Over the last few months we have been lifting the profile of our Saturday welcome meetings. The idea is to make sure that everyone has all the information that they need and to get the holiday off to a great start.
Poolside Bar Compere Dave O’Neill (one half of the world famous O’Neill twins) hosts the welcome meeting and incorporates quizzes, novelty prize bingo and introduces all the staff.

Bucks Fizz flows freely from 10.45 onwards. Here below is Resort Manager Alan, presenting a bottle of champagne to Club Olympus owners Harry and Elizabeth Brook at this Saturday’s Welcome Party (1st March). Harry and Elizabeth are from Halifax in Yorkshire.

Owners Keith and June Thompson were joint winners of the Club Olympus quiz and are pictured below with In-House team member Nikki.

John and Diane Miller from Battle in Sussex were the other quiz winners featured below.

Club Olympus owners Rod and Dorothy Keller from Manchester won a 20th Anniversary T-shirt and a bottle of novelty whiskey. Here below is In-house team member Michael presenting the shirt to Dorothy.

Our Welcome meetings are great fun as well as informative and we give away loads of free stuff! Make sure you are there!
